This is Part Four of My Journey Home To Myself — A Four-Part Story. Before moving forward, don’t forget to read Part One, Part Two, and Part Three.
The Foray Into Deeper Detoxification
As I previously mentioned in Part One, I worked with a naturopath in my early 20s who helped me resolve the majority of my debilitating gut issues, excess inflammation and water retention, and low energy levels.
However, while I was navigating the hardest year of my life, which you can read more about in Part Three, I experienced another round of skin issues, starting (again) to get cystic acne on my cheeks, chin, jawline, and back.
I had always had “acne-prone” skin and struggled with consistent and recurring breakouts that made me very self-critical and self-conscious.
But, the breakouts I was getting were truthfully unlike anything I had ever experienced before.
I constantly asked myself:
What could this possibly be?
– I was eating plant-based foods and avoiding/minimizing processed soy product, refined sugars, grains, and carbohydrates, refined seed oils, gluten, dairy, alcohol, and processed foods.
– I was moving regularly, spending time in nature, managing stress, and sleeping well.
– I started to use clean, acne-safe products and was getting facials regularly.
Nothing was working, and my symptoms were getting worse. I became increasingly self-conscious about my skin.
As I was learning more about hormone health, I realized that I had my hormonal (Mirena) IUD for 5 years and had been on birth control for over a decade before that.
Like many other women, I was told that hormonal contraception was the only way to function in today’s world.
As I started digging further, I realized that hormonal contraception doesn’t balance your hormones—it silences them and ultimately suppresses ovulation.
I read more about the side effects of Mirena in online forums and communities and realized that many other women were experiencing unbearable cystic acne just like me.
I set up an appointment with a gynecologist in October 2021 back home in Montreal to get the IUD removed.
The gynecologist said it wasn’t a good idea.
I told her that I refused to leave her office until she removed it, so she did.
At the same time, I continued to explore deeper cellular cleansing and detoxification as my core healing modality—for myself and others around me. After my colonics with Gil Jacobs in New York City, I knew there had to be more I was missing.
I needed to rebalance my hormones holistically after getting my IUD removed, but I was still experiencing awful breakouts.
That’s when I learned about the liver.
The liver is the body’s primary detoxification organ, responsible for processing and eliminating toxins—essentially acting like the body’s “cleaning crew.”
However, like the colon, it can become overwhelmed or burdened by excessive toxins due to environmental pollutants, poor dietary choices, excessive alcohol consumption, medication or drug use (like hormonal contraception), and certain medical conditions
When the liver is overloaded with toxins, it may not perform its detoxification functions optimally, leading to a buildup of toxins in the liver and the formation of liver and gallbladder stones—tiny, pebble-like formations ranging from as small as a grain of sand to as big as a golf ball.
I started reducing the toxin load on my liver and supporting it through food/nutrition and lifestyle changes as well as herbs and compounds like milk thistle, burdock root, artichoke extract, NAC, and liposomal glutathione.
But then, I did my first-ever liver and gallbladder flush after moving to Los Angeles in 2022, and I knew that this was the missing link.
I completed about a dozen liver and gallbladder flushes over six months and passed thousands of stones during that time.
Along with focusing on the fundamentals—food/nutrition, movement, stress management, and sleep, integrating liver cleansing and detoxification modalities into my routine was the key to not only regulating my hormones, but unearthing clear, healthy, glowing skin that I wouldn’t even consider acne-prone anymore.
So, most people believe that inputs—the foods you eat, the supplements you take, and so on—are what create the physical results you’re looking for. But, this simply isn’t true.
Going through this horrific experience made it abundantly clear to me that healing is far less about the inputs and far more about the outputs.
The Transformation
Moving to Venice, California on January 9, 2022 wasn’t just a change in geography; it was a declaration of trust in myself and a deep commitment to creating the life I truly wanted—by design.
Venice became my sanctuary—a place where I could begin to rebuild and realign my health (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual), my relationships, my friendships, my community and social life, my home environment, my finances, my spirituality, my creativity, my career, and my purpose.
It wasn’t easy, and it definitely didn’t happen overnight.
But, little did I know, this was just the beginning of the most transformative chapter of my entire life.
I realized that I needed to get serious about detoxifying—not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as well.
I naturally have an insatiable appetite to learn and grow and feel fortunate to have received a tremendous amount of help and support along the way:
— I worked with a life coach for six months, from May to November 2021, during the darkest year of my life.
— I worked with another life coach for four months, from October 2021 to March 2022.
— I worked with a relationship-focused life coach on anxious attachment patterns for about nine months, from May 2022 into early 2023.
— I attended the Hoffman Process in April 2023—one of the most transformative weeks of my life.
— I committed to studying Kabbalah, completing Kabbalah One, Kabbalah Two, and Kabbalah Three with a close group of friends over about 12 months in 2023 and 2024.
— I completed a three-month intensive container, the Alchemy Journey, with Victoria Song from March through June 2024.
— I experienced my first psilocybin journey with Victoria Song in Utah in August 2024.
— I explored books, courses, podcasts, in-person events, masterclasses, breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, journaling, visioning, and many other modalities.
— I completed self-assessments and/or readings like Myers-Briggs, Human Design, Astrology, Enneagram, and Wealth Dynamics.
During this time, I realized that true health wasn’t just about what I was eating. It was about creating a lifestyle that allowed for my mind, body, and soul to be in complete alignment.
Slowly but surely, I started to shed negative blocks, patterns, fears, and thoughts and to finally come home like myself—more vibrant, aligned, and in tune with who I was always meant to be.
I realized:
— Just being Meghan is enough. I do not need to please, perform, or be perfect to be loved.
— I am eternally connected to all beings.
— I choose myself.
— I love myself—fully, completely, unequivocally.
— I am loved.
— I am worthy of love.
— I give without needing anything in return.
— I attract what I am. The more I keep my heart open and radiate love, kindness, expansion, abundance, and generosity outward, the more I receive that back.
— Self-actualization—the journey of coming home to myself and becoming the fullest expression of who I am—is the reason why I’m here (and why we’re all here).
In the past three years, I’ve experienced transformative changes:
— I moved into my dream modern bungalow by the beach.
— I built a close-knit community and opened my heart to friends who feel like family.
— I laid the foundation for an incredible coaching practice focused on deep cellular cleansing and detoxification, helping hundreds heal themselves from the inside out.
— I wrote and self-published two books in two years.
— I deepened my connection to my body, to myself, to others, and to something greater than myself.
— I’ve never felt better—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
— Each day, I wake up grateful for the life I get to live, the work I get to do, and the people I am surrounded by.
— I now wholeheartedly believe and have full trust and certainty that I’m on the right path, and relinquished any need for control.
Most importantly, I feel happy.
So, you don’t need to:
— Go to an Ivy League school
— Get an MBA
— Get married by the age of 30
— Work a high-stress, extremely demanding corporate job
— Buy a nice home, a nice car, and nice clothes
— Go on expensive trips
to be happy.
You can simply choose whatever brings you joy and fulfillment.
When you align with and come home to your authentic self, opportunities, freedom, and abundance will naturally follow.

Final Thoughts
On Your Journey
Self-actualization is not a destination—it’s a lifelong journey of coming home to yourself, peeling back the layers of conditioning, blocks, traumas, fears, and negative patterns, and stepping into the fullest expression of who you truly are.
It requires deep self-awareness, courage, and trust in your unique path, no matter how unconventional or uncertain it may seem.
As I reflect on my own journey, the most transformative realization I’ve had is this—you don’t need to strive to be someone you’re not.
Life flows when you choose authenticity over perfection, alignment over expectation, and joy and fulfillment over obligation.
When you let go of the need to control every outcome and instead have unwavering trust in the process, opportunities, freedom, and abundance will naturally follow. The more you open your heart, stay curious, and lean into what feels right for you—not what others expect of you—the closer you’ll get to the life you’re meant to live. And, it’s in this flow that true success, joy, happiness, and health thrive.
Your path will look different from mine or anyone else’s, and that’s exactly the point.
Embrace it fully, and remember— the journey itself is the destination.
On Your Health Journey
Your health is the foundation of your entire life. Every choice you make—from the foods you eat to the thoughts you think to the habits you cultivate to the love and care you give yourself—creates the conditions for your body to either struggle or thrive.
Healing isn’t linear, and it’s rarely about perfection.
Rather, it’s about progress, consistency, curiosity, and a commitment to listening to your body and subsequently making choices that align with what it needs.
It’s about recognizing that true health isn’t just physical; rather, it’s deeply intertwined with your mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
If there’s one thing I want you to take away from my story, it’s this—health doesn’t come from external solutions or quick fixes. It comes from within.
Your body is a self-healing, self-regenerating organism capable of absolutely incredible things when given the right tools and the right environment to heal. When you support your body’s natural ability to detoxify, regenerate, and heal itself, you unlock a vitality and life force that transcends the physical and allows you to ultimately achieve your greatest potential.
Your health journey will be unique to you, just as mine was to me.
I encourage you to embrace the process, to be patient with yourself, to honor where you’re at right now, and to know that healing takes time.
While the path may not always be easy, it is always worth it. Because when you feel your best, you show up as your best self—in your relationships, your work, your community, and your life.
Ultimately, both self-actualization and optimal health require the same thing—commitment. Commitment to yourself, your growth, and the life you were always meant to live.
So, take that first step, and then the next, trusting that each one is guiding you closer to the vibrant, aligned, and fulfilled version of yourself that already exists within you.
If you made it this far, thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my work, for reading my story, and for allowing me to be part of yours.
Whether you’re just starting or are deep into your own path, know that you’re never alone. I am here to guide, support, and inspire you along the way.
Here’s to your health, happiness, and becoming the fullest expression of who you are.
