There’s a veryyyy specific kind of person I keep meeting in this work.
You know the person.
It might even be you.
They’re not unhealthy.
By every conventional measure, they’re “doing everything right”.
They’ve got a wearable that tracks their sleep.
A continuous glucose monitor on their arm.
A new peptide stack that they’re VERY excited to share.
A supplement routine they could recite in their sleep.
A protocol for literallyyyy almost everything.
But, their last solid week of sleep was in 2024.
They drink 3-4 cups of coffee per day, every day.
Their job is grinding them into the ground.
Their relationship at home has been quietly unraveling for two years.
What they’re calling “optimization” is actually a very sophisticated form of avoidance.
The wellness industry has glamorized tracking your body while completely ignoring the actual conditions of your life.
The most informed person is not necessarily the healthiest person.
You can’t biohack your way out of a relationship that’s making you sick.
You can’t supplement your way around chronic burnout.
You can’t peptide your way to a nervous system that’s never been allowed to fully rest.
The data is real.
Some protocols are useful.
But, none of them substitute for the very boring, HARD, unglamorous work, like consistent sleep + rest, resistance training + movement, high-quality meals, good relationships, quality time in nature, a regulated nervous system (yep, don’t forget this one), and hard, honest conversations.
This work doesn’t show up on a dashboard.
So, what are you pretending not to know?
If this hit, I’d love to know in the comments: which of these are you pretending not to know? A relationship that’s quietly draining you, burnout you’re caffeinating around, sleep you’ve stopped prioritizing, an important conversation you’ve been avoiding, or… something else entirely? Let me know. I read and reply to every response.
If you saw yourself in this, my work is where the pretending stops. The first step is a 1:1 client intake call — 45 minutes to look honestly at what’s happening in your body and your life, and to figure out together whether what I do is the right next move for you. Not for everyone, but for the person who’s done pretending. Book your client intake call.
