Do you know that feeling when you wake up and your body just feels... off?
It’s definitely not just you.
Many of us wake up feeling "fine" — not terrible, but absolutely not great either. We've accepted this gray zone as our baseline, convincing ourselves that constant fatigue, brain fog, low energy, bloating, inflammation, and those inexplicable "blah" days are just a part of modern adult life.
I used to feel like that all the time.
And, I totally convinced myself that it was normal — just part of being a busy, thriving woman in my early twenties.
But here's what nobody is talking about — your body is quietly screaming for a chance to heal, regenerate, and reveal its natural health and vitality.
That morning grogginess that takes two coffees to shake off? Those random energy crashes that make you take a nap at 3 PM? The Sunday scaries that somehow stretch into both Monday and Tuesday?
They're all warning signs that your body's natural detoxification systems are struggling to keep up.
Don’t hate me for saying this… but the truth is, the glass of wine you rely on to "relax" after work, the couple of drinks you need to feel confident at social events, or those weekend brunches that turn into day-drinking sessions — they're all throwing wrenches into your body's intricate machinery.
Because the effects are subtle and cumulative, we miss the connection between these habits and our perpetual state of "just okay"-ness.
Three years ago, I decided to give going alcohol-free a 30-day trial run.
I now haven’t had a sip of alcohol in three years as of today.
Trust me, I didn’t plan for this or ever expect that I’d get to this point.
But, I felt so good after 30 days, I just decided to keep going.
And, I couldn’t be happier that I did. Not only did my body’s natural detoxification processes improve and restore themselves (with a little extra help) to optimal functioning, but I had some major mental, emotional, and spiritual breakthroughs once I stopped drinking.
Here’s what I learned about myself by going alcohol-free:
— I don’t need alcohol to be social or have fun. In fact, I have way more fun and feel much more present in social experiences without it.
— I don’t need alcohol to feel confident. I feel more confident without it and never have to rely on a false sense of security.
— I’ve discovered I’m an extroverted introvert. Socializing can often drain my energy, so I prioritize solo time and don’t hesitate to leave a party early to recharge.
— My sleep has never been better (and my Oura ring agrees).
— I’ve fully embraced my morning rituals, even on weekends — water, breathwork or meditation, gratitude practice, journaling, hot yoga, pilates, a sunrise hike, or some other form of movement, a homemade matcha, and a 20-minute tech-free walk to ground myself and get natural sunlight.
— I have way more energy and can make the most of every single day.
— I’ve saved a lot of money and use it to invest in high-quality organic produce and other activities and things that truly bring value to my life.
— My creativity has skyrocketed, which is essential for writing books and other digital products, generating content, and creating new products.
— I’ve built a community of like-minded people who align with my values, and my relationships, both new and old, are now more fulfilling than ever.
— I focus on activities I genuinely enjoy — hikes, long walks, hot yoga, farmer’s market trips, cooking, breathwork, meditation, and deep 1:1 conversations.
— I’ve realized that most people genuinely don’t care if I don’t drink — many actually admire it! And, those who judge or pressure me? They’re definitely not my people.
— While I never thought of myself as anxious, drinking used to make me feel off for days — sometimes even weeks. Now, I’m rarely anxious or depressed and can move through and process emotions with ease.
— Physically, I feel better than ever. My recent lab tests show that I’m within range on 150+ biomarkers, and that my biological age is 16 (even though I just turned 33).
— I’m more self-aware, empathetic, and grounded.
— My life feels aligned, vibrant, and full of possibility — I’m consistently quite happy, in flow, motivated, and at peace.
But, the most important takeaway?
I’ve developed a true sense of self.
I know who I am, what I stand for, and what lights me up.
You might be thinking, "But, I don’t even drink that much" or "I only drink socially on occasion."
But, here's the thing — it's not about how much or how often. It's about giving your body a chance to show you what it's capable of when it's not constantly playing defense against substances that disrupt its natural rhythms.
Are you ready to discover what your 100% actually feels like? Your body is ready to show you, and you might be shocked to discover just how good "normal" can feel when you're finally operating at full capacity.

Either way, I hope that sharing my journey inspires someone else to explore their relationship with alcohol.
You don’t need to commit to three years right away — just try it for a week, a month, or however long feels right for you.
