Every single day, we see new “high-protein” cereals, bars, yogurts, smoothies, shots, powders, drinks, and snacks hitting the market—Magic Spoon’s protein granola, Koia’s Elite line, Daily Harvest’s new high-protein smoothies, Nestlé’s protein shots…
The list goes on, especially as GLP-1s go mainstream.
It’s honestly getting completely out of control.
And, yes, protein will continue to dominate CPG.
A couple of people have even called it the "AI of CPG".
There's no slowing that down.
But, here’s my spicy take.
If you’re consuming a bunch of packaged products filled with toxic ingredients that your body was never meant to consume or digest, does it really even matter how many grams of protein you’re getting?
Protein is essential, but ingredients matter just as much…if not way more.
The human body evidently thrives on real, minimally processed whole foods that nature has given us–not on a cocktail of packaged foods, additives, refined sugars, artificial sweeteners, fillers, gums, and preservatives.
Overloading on protein from hyper-processed sources can backfire in the long run, causing inflammation, acidity, nutrient absorption issues, digestive distress, liver stagnation, overwhelmed detoxification pathways, and much more.
Let’s not lose sight of the bigger picture here.
Quality over just macros.
Real food over hype and clever marketing.
Long-term health over quick-fix protein boosts.
Moderation over mindlessly chasing and obsessing over sky-high protein counts at all costs.
Agree or disagree?
Would you rather focus on eating clean, whole foods or continue chasing protein macros with a side of highly questionable, toxic ingredients?
Are you completely overcorrecting when it comes to your protein consumption
What’s REALLY going to help you achieve optimal health and longevity in the long run

When I wasn't paying attention to protein I'd cycle between deficiency and binging. Then food sensitivities severely limited what I could eat and my protein deficiency became severe. I now use unflavored grass fed whey protein isolate; it's the only source of protein I found that didn't make me sick. Now I make sure I get a minimum amount on days I'm not fasting, and I take extra protein for repairs on days of heavy physical activity. After experiencing chronic protein deficiency I can understand why people overcompensate without realising.
