If you want to feel more ALIVE… eat more raw, LIVING foods.
I just returned from a 14-day detox immersion in the Costa Rican jungle—
where I spent 12 days drinking coconut water, juicing, water fasting, and reconnecting with the natural rhythms of the earth and 2 days eating delicious raw food meals made from scratch.
While I was there, I was reminded that so much of what we eat in the modern world is dead.
Dehydrated.
Cooked.
Processed.
Completely stripped of its life force.

But, raw living foods are electric and alive.
They nourish your cells.
They activate your energy and vitality.
They help your body remember what it feels like to truly thrive.
I'm not saying that you need to go 100% raw overnight.
But, weaving in more raw options—alongside your cooked meals—can change everything.
The Benefits of Raw Food
Here’s why raw food is so beneficial:
BIOPHOTONS — These light energy particles are present only in raw living foods and carry vital energy that fuels your cells. More biophotons mean more cellular energy and vitality.
ENZYMES — Raw foods are rich in live enzymes that aid digestion and nutrient absorption. The more enzymes you consume, the less work your body has to do, saving energy for healing and regeneration.
NUTRIENTS — Cooking can deplete vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and antioxidants in your food. Keeping foods raw helps to ensure your body receives the unfiltered nutrients it needs to thrive.
Here are some additional benefits:
IMPROVED DIGESTION — Natural enzymes in raw foods support smoother digestion and reduce stress on your digestive system.
ENHANCED DETOXIFICATION — High-fiber, quick-exit, raw plant foods act as an intestinal broom, helping flush out toxins naturally.
BETTER HYDRATION — Many raw fruits and vegetables are water-rich, aiding cellular hydration and overall function.
INCREASED ALKALINITY — A diet rich in raw foods helps balance your body’s pH, fostering a more alkaline environment for health.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECTS — Raw foods can help reduce chronic inflammation, a key driver of many long-term health issues.
Bottom line: Raw, living foods work at the cellular level to help your body heal, regenerate, perform at its best, and come back to life.
In a world dominated by ultra-processed, overcooked food, returning to more raw food can reconnect you to something deeper, to nature, to your body, and to life itself.
How To Eat More Raw Food (Without Feeling Deprived)
Start with one raw meal per day. Easiest entry point: a raw smoothie or seasonal fruit bowl in the morning or a big raw salad for lunch. There’s no need to go 100% raw—just begin to swap one cooked meal.
Add raw sides, not just full meals. Try raw veggies with hummus or extra-virgin olive oil, sliced avocado with sea salt, or fermented saeurkraut or kimchi.
Make it beautiful and satisfying. Raw doesn’t mean boring—load your plate with color, texture, and flavor. Think: creamy cashew dressings, spicy seeds, marinated vegetables, fresh herbs and microgreens, citrus zest, and so on.
Use dips, sauces, and seasonings. Tahini, guacamole, pesto, almond butter, coconut aminos, lime juice, sea salt—these elevate raw meals from bland to craveable.
Blend and spiralize. Smoothies, raw soups, spiralized zucchini noodles—raw doesn’t have to mean “celery, carrots, and cucumbers all day”.
Upgrade your salad game. Think beyond lettuce: add shredded beets, jicama, fennel, sprouts, microgreens, raw sauerkraut or kimchi, raw sunflower or pumpkin seeds, avocado, and a killer dressing.
Pair raw with cooked. Serve a raw salad or even just a bed of leafy greens, microgreens, or sprouts alongside a cooked meal. This balances the transition and supports better digestion too.
Just remember that you’re not cutting things out—you’re adding life back in.
PSA: If you’re suddenly feeling bloated, tired, inflamed, or breaking out after eating more raw foods… it’s not a bad sign. It’s a detox symptom. Raw, living foods are deeply cleansing to the body. They’re rich in enzymes, fiber, and biophotons that help your body release accumulated toxic waste, especially if you’ve been eating more processed or cooked foods for a while. When your body starts releasing, symptoms can flare temporarily before they resolve. As I always say to my clients, the symptoms are the cure. Stick with it, rest, hydrate, and trust the process.
Again, raw foods are filled with biophotons, live enzymes, and unaltered nutrients your body knows how to use.
The more you eat them, the more your body will crave them.

I have always sworn by the power of one or two raw carrots per day!! I don’t even go through the whole effort of the trendy raw carrot salad vibe (though I’m sure that’s delicious), but it seriously just gives my whole system such a little reset that I feel essentially immediately!
Thanks for the reminder to add in more raw. I love the simplicity of raw carrots and celery as a snack. But I’m so vata and it’s winter here in Australia so I barely get raw food in me, except fruit. Is there such a thing as raw and warm food?!
