Kayla Barnes-Lentz just said something publicly that I think signals a real shift.
If you don’t know her, she has nearly a decade as one of the most prominent voices in health optimization, is a longevity clinic owner, and is publicly described as “the most measured woman in the world”.
She’s done stem cells, hyperbaric, PEMF, IV therapies, EBOO, therapeutic plasma exchange — consistently, over years, documenting all of it.
This is what she just wrote:
“Running on an incredibly strict schedule of only optimization things isn’t when my biomarkers look the best. It’s when I’m finding joy in simplicity, in love, in the sun, in foods grown near you, in lowering your toxic burden and stress levels.”
And:
“If I have to trade an hour of hyperbaric per day for an hour of frolicking in nature and getting some sun, I’m going to choose the frolicking.”
You can’t track your way to wholeness.
You can’t quantify your way to healing.
And, the woman who has arguably tracked more health data on herself than anyone alive is now saying so publicly.
I recognize this because I lived it.
I used to be that girl.
Tracking steps, tracking HRV, tracking calories, macros, grams of protein, and literally any and every metric I could get my hands on.
It gave me a false sense of control…like if I could just optimize harder, I’d finally feel better in my body.
All it really did was disconnect me from her.
My body, my intuition, and my own felt sense of what was actually happening inside.
I was constantly in performance mode.
I had rigid routines, measurable outcomes, no softness, and no trust.
Health became a checklist, not a felt experience.
I ditched my Oura ring last year.
And, that’s when my body actually began to heal.
Most of the people I work with are health-conscious high performers who are driven, disciplined, and used to results.
And for a long time, that works — in business, in achievement, in life.
Applied to the body, it really backfires.
The same traits that create success externally can quietly block healing internally.
Because the body doesn’t respond to force the way a business does.
It responds to safety, to trust, and to the right conditions in the right order.
A body in constant surveillance doesn’t feel safe.
And a body that doesn’t feel safe doesn’t detox, regulate, or repair efficiently.
When healing becomes a math problem — inputs vs. outputs, metrics vs. goals — the nervous system stays in control mode.
Control is NOT the state where elimination, detox, or deep repair happens.
The body heals when it feels supported, not managed.
Structure has its place, and discipline has its power. (I’m a Capricorn rising and have two other planets in Capricorn, so trust me…I get it.)
But when your entire health routine becomes control, optimization, and measurement, you leave no room for pleasure, slowness, softness, and self-trust.
And without those, healing stalls.
Kayla isn’t stopping her labs. Neither should you.
The shift isn’t away from the tools. It’s away from the premise that the tools ARE the foundation.
They’re not.
The foundation is the terrain.
Sleep that restores, bowels that move, a liver that clears, lymph that flows, a nervous system that can regulate, and a body not fighting a toxic burden it has never been given the tools to release.
When that’s working (and I mean actually working, not just within range), biomarkers follow. Clarity comes, energy holds, weight moves, and hormones regulate.
Not because you optimized.
Because you cleared.
Kayla spent a decade measuring everything and arrived at simplicity.
You don’t have to take that long.
This is the entire premise behind The Foundation — my 12-week guided detox program starting September 22. It’s not a protocol layered on top of a congested system. It’s the sequence run in the correct biological order, at the pace your body sets, until the terrain is actually clear.
Then, and only then, does everything else land.
Enrollment closes September 18.
If this resonated and you’re wondering whether this work is right for you right now, a 20-minute fit call is the fastest way to find out. We’ll talk about where you are, what you’ve tried, and whether The Foundation is the right next step.
Not sure where your body is in the sequence? Take the free Detox Phase Quiz first. It takes 2 minutes.
If this hit, I would love to know: have you been on a peptide protocol, or are you considering one? Which of these six questions did your practitioner never address? Let me know in the comments. I read and reply to every response.
If you’d prefer to work together 1:1. I’m currently taking a very limited number of new 1:1 coaching clients heading into the fall. The first step is a 45-minute Client Intake call where we map your full picture and figure out together whether the work is the right fit for where you are.
And, if you have any other questions or comments, don’t hesitate to ask me any time in my weekly Q&A in my paid subscriber channel. If you’re not a paid subscriber, sign up below.

YES! 💯 When we're micro managing our health with monitoring more and more health metrics and "health" foods and supplements, to the body that looks like chronic stress (especially if we forget to do any of it), looks like the gut not getting the resources to digest properly and immune system (70%-ish in the gut) also not getting support, because the organism (Human body) needs to escape the threat first (because digestion and immunity aren't essential until/unless we survive).
The problem is 99% of the time there is no REAL threat in our environment (no actual bear) and that chronic sympathetic nervous system activation effects digestion/immunity in a negative way over time (chronic dis-ease).
